Many people do not have the slightest idea what jailbreaking an iPhone is. It sounds a little strange to say the least, however, jailbreaking is a term used to define the action of modifying an iPhone in such a way that it becomes possible to install and use applications that are not specifically made for the iPhone. The appliacations are otherwise known as third party applications. Jailbreaking is different than actually unlocking the phone. An iPhone that has simply been unlocked will be able to be actuivated and associated with all phone carriers. One might be wondering why a person might wish to jailbreak their iPhone. The reason is quite simple. Many other companies have created excellent software that would be an awesome addition to the iPhone. Problem, iPhone does not work with that software. For this reason jailbreaking would come in handy because it would allow a user to install that software on their iPhone.
Another scenario in which on may wish to jailbreak their iPhone would be for the purpose of video recording. Unfortunatly, iPhone is not a standard option on iPhones. This means that anyone wishing to use their iPhone for video recording would essentially need to jailbreak it so that software for video recording that was made for another device, would work on their iPhone. Lastly, a person may wish to jealibreak their iPhone simply for the purpose of appearance. There are a lot of really cool applications out there to improve the look of a smart phone. Many of these apps are not defined with iPhone in mind and therefore jailbreaking would be the only way in which to use one of them.
